Born in London, Ontario, Canada, Paul became interested in the play of light through coloured glass in the early 80’s while pursuing a career in commercial printing and graphic design. Working with a London, Ontario studio he perfected the techniques of both copper foil and leaded glass work, doing selected private commissions and filling his own home with art windows in the Victorian, Gothic and Art Deco styles.
His love of the medium and his commission workf grew to the poin that in 2002 he opted out of his graphic design studio partnership to pursue glasswork full time, splitting time between his own studio in the Beaver Valley area of Ontario, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, and the sun soaked scruff of Anguilla, British West Indies.
Paul’s design style is profoundly influenced by the geometric lines and simplicity of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie design, with some personal twists and curves to make it unique! Many of his recent projects feature the clean look of clear textured glass spotted with colour, allowing the piece flexibility to work with many interior design styles.
Paul exhibits and self promotes through his own Beaver Valley studio, participates in two yearly area art studio tours promoted by local art associations and devotes most of his time to private residential commissions where pieces are custom designed and sized to a specific space or opening.
