Thank You for a Successful Somniatis II

On behalf of the Orillia Museum of Art & History, I want to thank all the SOMNIATIS II Wearable Art Show contributors and participants for their generosity and collaborative creative spirit. An event of this magnitude that galvanizes a community is something that we creatives can only dream of. It takes the sheer brilliance, determination, and no-holds-barred kind of attitude that can bring it all together. That epic foresight and fortitude and utter confidence came from the creative direction of Ruth Germain. Her energy and spirit inspired the multitude of creatives that thrive in our community and for that we are thankful. Her mentorship and devotion to the collaborative nature and the multidisciplinarity of the arts, is something that we can be no less than in awe of. As the community’s museum of arts, history, and culture, SOMNIATIS II married our vision and mission, to inspire creativity and to celebrate history. History was made at this event.
I also want to thank the other leads of the creative team: Shimera Dione, Beth McKean, Cynthia Young, and Peter Stranks. These creative leaders of our community were also devoted mentors and motivators throughout the creative process that began over 8 months ago.
This event was made possible through our sponsors: Casino Rama Resort, Davenport KIA, Davenport Subaru, Georgian Bay Printers and Marci Csumrik. We are also grateful to our event partners: Studio Eleven Orillia, Knightvision Photo and Video, Effigy Design and Impression House.
An event of this magnitude does not come together without the tireless support of behind the scenes volunteers and to them I extend a massive thank you. Thank you also to all the silent auction donors, what an incredibly giving community!
And of course, this event wouldn’t be THE EVENT if I didn’t thank our guests who were teased mercilessly over the past three months of what that would bear witness this past Saturday. I can confidently say that they were blown away! I think SOMNIATIS II and over 200 creatives that came together made them believe in what a wonderful, creative, inspiring community they live in.
With immense gratitude!
Ninette Gyorody, OMAH Executive Director, on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and members of the Orillia Museum of Art & History
