Announcing: Festival of Banners 2016 Call to Artists!
Festival of Banners 2015 Shore to Shore was a great success for both the Orillia Museum of Art and History and the city of Orillia and surrounding communities. Thank you to all of our generous sponsors that helped to make last year such a success, including Lakehead University that contributed greatly to making the event’s goals achievable. As we move forward, the Orillia Museum of Art and History is pleased to announce the return of Festival of Banners for 2016.
The Festival of Banners is a community art project that helps to enhance the culture and beauty of the City of Orillia. This year’s theme, Past to Present and Tomorrow, will explore the heritage and history of the City of Orillia and surrounding area that captures the character, identity, culture and traditions of our city and our people. Artists are free to explore the past, present and future of Orillia in their artwork that reflects our city’s history towards the upcoming celebration of Orillia’s 150th anniversary. From June to October the banners will be displayed throughout Orillia showcasing the artists work and talent.
