2015 Bayne/Jenkins Croquet Tournament

Opening remarks at the 2015 Croquet tournament

This year’s Bruce Bayne/Don Jenkins Invitational Croquet Tournament, held on August 22nd, was a great success, raising over $2000 for the Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH).  Teams returned from Champlain Seniors, St. Paul’s, OMAH staff and volunteers, The Brownstone, and the Y’s Guys joining new teams from City of Orillia senior staff and Mayor and Councillors.

The tournament, held yearly at Hammock Harbour Resort is sponsored by The Late Honourable Justice “Mac” Carter and named in honour of Bruce Bayne, who worked for the city of Orillia for 35 years and Don Jenkins, who was a valued member of city council. Bruce and Don were avid croquet players and this tournament honours their friendship, their love of Orillia and their commitment to OMAH, the community’s museum. Twelve pitches were set up for play at Hammock Harbour Resort for an afternoon of friendly competition with practice rounds, semi-final and final games. Barbara Jones scored the winning shot for the Champlain Senior's Team. Congratulations to this year’s tournament winners, and thank you to all who participated!
