Sir John A. Macdonald: A Celebration of Canada Dinner *Sold Out*

Saturday, January 12, 2019 - 5:30pm to 10:00pm

Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club

This year’s guest speaker Don Smith, is a highly respected historian, author and professor emeritus, University of Calgary. He has made First Nation’s history his life’s work and passion. He has published several books covering a myriad of topics regarding this period and the remarkable First Nations people. His talk “John A. Macdonald and the First Nations Policy”, is a topic that today arouses opinions: some neutral, others derogatory.  He brings an in-depth knowledge of the historical context of the age of Macdonald to his discussion of the topic. The evening promises to be most interesting, informative and not without its lighter moments, including his inclusion of a documented visit by Sir John to Orillia at a time of very lively exchanges in opposing political views.

We appreciate your support for this important fundraiser which enables OMAH to offer enriching programs for Orillia, the surrounding townships and Rama First Nation.

Tickets are 60.00$ and can be purchased at the front desk of the Orillia Museum of Art & History starting Thursday, November 22nd.
