The Man in the Little Black Dress

Thursday, October 8, 2015 to Sunday, January 10, 2016

Please join us at the opening reception on October 86-9pm.  Opening remarks with James Ireland at 7pm.

OMAH's first artist in residence, James Ireland has pursued a successful career including creating his own graphic-arts group in Toronto specializing in magazine design and corporate branding. In his retirement James has settled in Orillia and started to use OMAH's small etching press for his work.

This exhibition will showcase a series of drawings and a humourous story about a fictional Jesuit explorer in New France called Father DeMent. The 36 drawings plus a selection of etchings will be on show and on sale in the Lounge Gallery on October 8. A catalogue entitled The Man in the Little Black Dress, with illustrated storyline, will also be on sale.

James Ireland finished art school at 20 and came to Canada in 1967 with his fascination of the pop art movement.  Jim has art-directed, designed, redesigned and launched some of Canada's top publications, including Canadian Art, Maclean's, Toronto Life, the University of Toronto Magazine, the Ryerson Review of Journalism and The Globe & Mail.
