Lunch and Learn: The Birdbath Collaboration
After a brief talk about how they work together and show examples of their past work, the Birdbath Collaboration will supply an image to work from and encourage groups of two to work collectively. These works will be acrylic on canvas board. Each member of the pair will sketch their idea and then switch with their partner at their convenience, so each participant leaves with an original collaborative painting.
Bewabon Shilling and Tanya Cunnington formed The Birdbath Collaboration in 2010. Both artists in their own rite, the collaboration was a way for each to explore different avenues of creativity. The two artists take turns working on each piece together. When one is at a loss of what to do next the other steps in. In order for this process to be successful, it is obvious that each half of the Collective has a huge mutual respect for what the other artist is able to contribute.
Since their inception, they have collaborated on paintings, sculptures and film. They held their first major Exhibition of paintings in the summer of 2015 at a Pop-Up Gallery opened by the collective, exhibit regularly at Lee Contemporary Art in Orillia, and have recently been added to the permanent collection of the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.
Lunch will be catered by White Lions Tea House (sandwich, salad, dessert). We can accommodate vegetarian and gluten free. Please specify if either are required.
